ASIFABAD (ADILABAD): Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurated the Komaram Bheem irrigation project and dedicated it to the nation at Ada village in Asifabad mandal on Saturday.
The Rs 452crore project will provide irrigation water to about 20,000 acres under its left canal. The right canal, which will irrigate about 25,000 acres, will be completed soon.Participating in the Rachabanda PhaseII programme at the Zilla Parishad High School here, Kiran Kumar Reddy announced sops worth about Rs 350 crore for the district. He sanctioned 52 model schools in all mandal headquarters to be constructed at a cost of Rs 156 crore. Under Indira Jala Prabha, irrigation facility will be provided to one lakh acres through drip irrigation and borewells at a cost of Rs 180 crore.

"The state government is working for the welfare of people and it will continue to give top priority to agriculture, education, health and employment," the chief minister said. A new scheme will be launched in Adilabad district on a pilot basis to develop medical infrastructure and provide free medicines to the needy in rural areas. He promised 40,000 jobs to the youth in Adilabad district over the next three years under the newly launched Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu scheme.
