THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When eight-year-old Subhadra Nair captured the scenic beauty and historic relevance of Russia in her camera, her parents never thought that one day it would be lined up for all to see. The curiosity of a young girl in class III, when blended well with her liking to photography, has produced the photo exhibition - ‘Glimpses Of Russia’ - which is on at the Russian Culture Centre here. The exhibition of Subhadra showcases 22 photographs which were handpicked from the hundreds of snaps she took while touring Russia. Knowingly or unknowingly, the political changes of Russia and, especially Moscow, have entered into the photos. The transition of the Russian intellect from the red brand of atheism towards spiritualism is evident in the photo captioned ‘Faith restored’. There are photos of historical monuments, churches, memorials and the landscape of Russia spread out in the walls of the Centre. The talent of the little one was first identified by her family when they toured Kodaikanal. The child was more interested in taking photographs than sight-seeing, according to her father Ratheesh C Nair, who is also the Honorary Counsel and Director of Russian Cultural Centre. ‘’During regular outings with our Russian friends Alexander and Ekatirina, Subhadra was actually in the lookout for materials worth a shoot,’’ said her father. According to Ratheesh, the family had gone for a short vacation to Russia and visited places in the old city of Kremlin, where beauty and serenity were at their best. The exhibition is open from 10 am to 5 pm. It will be on till Thursday.
