BANGALORE: Nation-wide Primary Healthcare Services in association with Dental Diagnostic Centre and Dr Agarwal’s Eye-Hospital organised ‘The Healthy Kids’ — a paediatric health camp at Forum Value Mall, Whitefield on July 23.The camp was a huge success, with the doctors consulting a total of 186 children on the day. Conducted solely for individuals below the age of 15 years, ‘The Healthy Kids’ included a general paediatric check-up followed by refraction and vision tests for eye-care, an oral hygiene examination and dental check-up.According to the UNICEF, nearly 48 per cent of Indian children are denied basic healthcare and around 5,460 dying every day are below the age of 5. “A majority of children fall victim to diseases that could be cured, if identified at an early stage,” said Dr Adarsh Somashekar from NationWide Primary Healthcare Services.“At least 60 per cent of the 10 million children dying every year could be saved through regular checkups and basic healthcare services,” he added. The camp was led by expert paediatricians and the check-up involved an examination of the child’s physical attributes as well as tests for anaemia and vitamin deficiencies.
