PUDUCHERRY: An Inter-ministerial Central Team (IMCT) was constituted by the Government, on Thursday, for on-the-spot assessment of the situation in the wake of cyclonic storm ‘Thane’ that struck Puducherry and Tamil Nadu in December. According to a Government release, the IMCT, led by the Ministry of Home Affairs,would comprise representatives from the ministries/ departments of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (Fisheries), Drinking Water, Finance (Department of Expenditure), Health, Power, Road Transport & Highways, Rural Development, Water Resource and Planning Commission. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will also be represented in the team. The team will visit shortly.
