HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam will take the initiative to bring a non-Congress and non-BJP government to power at the Centre after the next election.“The Congress has been weakened in the country and will weaken further. The BJP is, due to its internal squabbles and communal agenda, unable to dethrone the corrupt Congress. The TDP will, therefore, take it as its responsibility to bring an alternative government at the Centre,” party president N Chandrababu Naidu said in his concluding speech on the final day of Mahanadu here on Sunday. The party adopted a political resolution vowing to bring down the corrupt Congress rule at Delhi.Naidu said that no party would progress in the country, excepting those having an economic agenda. Naidu’s economic agenda includes poverty alleviation and disbursing cash to the poor through Cash Transfer Scheme (CTS).“We have never compromised with Congress. We are fighting against it for 30 years. The Congress’ popularity is waning and the BJP is not growing fast,” Naidu said. Asserting that his dream was not unrealistic, he said non-Congress and non-BJP governments were in place in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal. Sensing people’s mood the TDP would try to bring a non-Congress and non-BJP government to power at the Centre, he said.“Andhra Pradesh will pay a pivotal role and give direction to the country,” Naidu said and vowed to expose the inefficient Congress, corrupt YSR Congress and blackmailer TRS and regain power in the state whenever elections were held.To appease Muslim voters he reiterated that the TDP would not forge an alliance with the BJP.In its political resolution, the party predicted YSR Congress’ merger with the Congress sooner or later.“The YSR Congress has no political ideology. Several regional parties were launched and merged with Congress but the TDP was relentlessly fighting against the Congress,’’ the resolution claimed.
