THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The centenary observance of Swami Nirmalananda’s visit to the state concluded here on Sunday. Poet O N V Kurup presented the Swami Nirmalananda Award 2012 to Jay Lakhani, chief of Vivekanandakendram, UK. Poet Sugathakumari presided over the function. Swami Kaivalyanandaji of Sreeramakrishna Ashramam, Ottappalam, welcomed the gathering. Prakash Kamanatt of Thulasi Books, Singapore, introduced the award winner to the guests. In his address, Jay Lakhani said that the world had a lot to learn from the Hindu philosophy. ‘’Hinduism teaches spiritual humanism to the world. The philosophy says the spirit of god not just resides in the heaven. It could also be witnssed in the eyes of every person whom you come across,’’ he said. Dr P Achuthan in his address said that Swami Nirmalananda was responsible for the success of Sree Ramakrishna Mission in the state.
