CHENNAI: Human Rights Watch estimates there are four crore bonded labourers in India today, 1.5 crore of whom are children.With the aim of educating school students about the issue of bonded labour, International Justice Mission (IJM) Chennai is all set to call upon interested school students to be a part of an inter-school competition scheduled for November 16, which will also mark the conclusion of the Live Free school campaign. As part of this event, students will be provided with an opportunity to express their views and opinions by participating in essay writing competitions and art competitions on the issue of ‘bonded labour’. Through these competitions, students will learn about the role they can play to support the eradication of the bonded labour system in India. IJM will also be organising a quiz competition for the students at Museum Theatre on November 16, from 9am to 1pm.Students can exhibit their support to the eradication of bonded labour system in India by participating in the Imprint Campaign. They also have an opportunity to win exciting prizes at the campaign.Live Free Campaign was launched by International Justice Mission to educate students about their social responsibility towards the community; acquaint young people with the severity and prevalence of social ills in their community; facilitate opportunities and inspire the students to contribute toward social awareness campaigns.
