New Delhi: With the Indo-US civil nuclear deal in the last phase of Congressional process, the two countries will hold the next round of talks next week when Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns undertakes a visit in New Delhi.
Burns is likely to arrive in New Delhi on December 7, a day after the joint session of the House of Representatives and the Senate to reconcile the two bills passed by them to prepare the final legislation on the civil nuclear agreement.
After the conference session, the Senate and the House are expected vote on the final legislation on December 7 and 8, sources said.
The senior US official, who has been the key interlocutor on the civil nuclear deal clinched in March this year, will hold talks with Shyam Saran, Special Envoy on the nuclear issue
The two will hold discussions on the bilateral '123' Agreement, which is the operational pact on the civil nuclear deal. The talks are expected to focus on those aspects of the proposed legislation on which India has voiced concern.
Burns is also expected to meet Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon.
