THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Independence Day celebrations in the capital city will have a new participant in the Border Security Force (BSF), one of the largest paramilitary forces in the world.A contingent of BSF personnel, comprising 28 men, will take part in the Independence Day parade and give salute to the Chief Minister at Central Stadium on Monday. Inspector Sandeep Kumar of the Force will command the contingent. Besides the personnel from Thiruvananthapuram, the contingent will also have personnel from the Force’s camp in Thrissur and its platoon in Kozhikode.BSF was included in the list of participants after the force set up its headquarters here last month. BSF officials said that now that they have established their headquarters here, they will feature regularly in all the Independence Day and Republic Day parades henceforth."Besides the headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, we have a battalion camped in Thrissur and a platoon in Kozhikode. We will only be part taking in the celebrations held in the capital city,’’ said Deputy Inspector General of BSF, George Manjuran. DIG George Manjuran will also be present at the Independence Day celebrations at Central Stadium on Monday.
