CHERAI: A pall of gloom fell over the Ayyampilly village at Vypeen island when the body of a boy was fished out from Cherai beach. Another youngster of the same village is feared drowned in the Cherai sea on Saturday evening.The deceased is Rahul, 18, son of Reji of Odassery in Ayyampilly. Praveen Das, 22, son of Raghavan Nikathuthara. went missing in the sea. Srudheesh, 18, was saved by the timely effort of a foreigner who was taking bath in the sea.According to Munambam Police SI M N Balachandran, three friends Rahul, Praveen Das and Srudheesh ventured into the sea for taking bath when the mishap occurred at 5.30 pm. Rahul and Srudheesh were engineering students and Praveen Das was an engineering graduate.Rahul’s body was recovered around 6 pm.
