HYDERABAD: BJP state president G Kishan Reddy, allIndia secretary B Dattatraya, and national executive members N Indrasena Reddy and J Syam Kishore met chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his camp office here on Monday and urged him to rescue farmers and agricultural labourers in droughtaffected areas of the state.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the chief minister on the severe drought and the problems of farmers. Kishan Reddy said groundnut, maize, blackgram, green gram and soya crops were damaged due to scanty rainfall. Besides, the cotton yield had come down drastically, he said and added that frequent power cuts were also one of the reasons for crops drying up. The drought situation was severe in 750 mandals but the government declared only 555 as droughtaffected, he said.
