The 10-day session of the Uttar Pradesh state legislature will begin on Wednesday with the address of Governor BL Joshi to the joint sitting of both the state legislative assembly and the state council.
While the session has been called to pass the interim budget for the next three months, the session is likely to be stormy as the opposition is daggers drawn with the government headed by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already announced that it will boycott the governor's address and other opposition parties - the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and the Congress - have braced for a showdown with the government on issues like law and order, non-payment of arrears of cane growers and incidences of communal violence in the state.
Leader of BJP in the assembly Hukum Singh told IANS the state government was not following procedures for running the house, and accused the Samajwadi Party government of failing on all fronts.
