KOCHI: The Central intelligence agencies on Tuesday issued an alert to the Kerala Government on a possible terrorist infiltration through the coastal areas of the state.Officers in the intelligence agencies said that the alert was issued when certain inputs revealed that a group of terrorists were attempting to sneak into the country through the coast.“Kochi is a major destination in the state and the alert has been issued to put the coastal areas in the state, particularly the coast off Kochi, under strict surveillance,” the intelligence sources said. They added that though the alert was of a routine nature, theagencies had been directed to give due prominence to it, considering the changing threat perception after the killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami leader Ilyas Kashmiri.“The terrorist elements are planning to create an unrest in various parts of the country after remaining lull for a long period,” the sources said.
