New Delhi: After the success of Chandrayaan I, India space research organization (ISRO) is now planning its first manned mission to the moon.
The manned flight will cost Rs 12,400 crore.
While the Centre has added another Rs 40 crore for pre-project funding, cabinet clearance is now awaited.
ISRO plans to send two astronauts into space in 2015.
Their vehicle will be the geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle powered by an indigenous cryogenic engine.
The two will spend up to a week in the orbit around the earth.
The astronauts will be brought back to earth with the capsule carrying them landing in the sea.
