7 dead, 13 injured in bus mishap in Anantapur

ANANTAPUR: Seven people died and 13 were seriously injured in a ghastly road accident at Dummalagunda in Bathalapalle mandal in the district in the early hours of Thursday. According to the police, the accident happened when a private bus (Kesineni Travels), which was going to Hyderabad from Coimbatore via Tirupati, rammed a rig's trailer parked on the road side.The driver of the bus, which was said to be travelling at a high speed, tried to evade a collision with a lorry which was coming in the opposite direction and ran straight into the trailer which was parked on the road side for repairs.The trailer was carrying a huge boulder of granite.The impact of the collision was such that the front portion of the bus ploughed into the rear of the trailer.Seven persons, including driver and the cleaner, died on the spot, while 13 were seriously injured.The others, though not physically injured, were traumatized.In all, 30 people were travelling in the bus.The deceased were identified as newlyweds from Miryalaguda Venugopal (30) and Manogna (24); Brunda from Uppal; Santosh Kumar and Arun Kumar, Ayyappa devotees from Shalibanda in Hyderabad; bus driver Yesupadam and cleaner Anand, both from Vijayawada.Bathalapalle police shifted the injured to the government hospital.Dharmavaram DSP Nawab Jan and some other police officials visited the accident spot and the hospital
