BANGALORE: The state government has decided to effect a seven per cent hike in dearness allowance of all its employees as a Diwali gift. The revised DA will come into effect from July 1, 2011, and about 5.5 lakh state government employees and over four lakh retired government servants will benefit from this.“The government will make an announcement in this regard on Saturday,” said Government Employees’ Association president Byrappa.The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and attended by representatives of various state government employees’ associations here on Friday.The state government is also likely to announce its decision on employees’ demand for a 30 per cent interim relief on the existing salary before the implementation of recommendations of the 6th pay commission.
