2-year-old boy mauled to death by stray dogs

BANGALORE: A two-and-a-half- year-old boy was reportedly mauled to death by stray dogs near a bus stop in Yelahanka New Town on Friday morning. The incident came to light when the mutilated body of Sandeep, the victim, was found lying next to the bus stop near Blue Bell School. It is believed that the dogs had bitten off an arm and a leg and there were traces of blood on the street near the bus stop.However, it is unclear how the boy reached the bus stop early morning. Sandeep was with his parents at Neha Prakash Hospital where his mother delivered a baby on Thursday night. Doctors at the hospital say the father, who was drunk, was sent away on Thursday night fearing he could cause trouble to other patients. Police say the father, Sanjay, did not leave the hospital because it was raining heavily.He slept in the basement and took Sandeep along with him. However, it is not clear how Sandeep left the hospital and how his body was later found near the bus stop 400 metres away. The police also say that it could be a case of multiple dog bites and can only confirm it after the post-mortem. Hospital sources say Sandeep’s family had come from Bihar and the hospital had agreed to admit the mother though they were poor.
