2G: CAG likely to depose before the JPC again
Vinod Rai will have to explain how the CAG arrived at the presumptive loss figure of Rs 1.76 lakh crore.

New Delhi: Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai is expected to depose the Joint Parliamentary Panel looking into the 2G scam once again. He will have to explain how the government auditor arrived at the presumptive loss figure of Rs 1.76 lakh crore.

While Congress members disagree with the top auditor's estimate of Rs 1.76 lakh-crore loss to the exchequer and intend to grill him further, BJP MPs in the panel defend Rai's report.

In his last appearance before JPC, Rai had defended CAG estimate, even as his former lead auditor RP Singh has reportedly stuck to his stand of pegging the presumptive loss at Rs 2,645 crore before the JPC.
