New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon's curative petition against death sentence. Memon will now be hanged on July 30 .

The curative petition was the last legal recourse available for Memon. The hanging is likely to take place at Nagpur Central Jail.

Maharashtra Home Ministry said that after the Supreme Court rejected the curative petition, the state government is going ahead with the preparations for the hanging of death row convict Yakub Memon. As per the apex court directives already laid down, the prisoner and the family were informed of the death warrant on July 14.

Hailing the judgement, Special Public Prosecutor Ujwal Nikam calls it a historic one.
