However, your Android device could become infected with malware that could turn your Android device into a participant of a DDoS attack. This could result in data overage charges and reduced battery life.
Steps

Keep your Android device up to date. In order to make sure you have the latest security updates, keep your devices operating system up to date. Google will automatically uninstall any apps with known malware. Read How to Update an Android to learn how to keep your Android device is up to date.

Install apps from the Google Play Store. Do not install APK files or apps from third-party sources outside the Google Play Store. Use the following steps to block apps from unknown sources. Open the Settings menu Android 7 Settings App. Tap "Security". Turn off the switch next to "Unknown Sources"

Install apps only from trusted developers. Even apps from the Google Play Store can occasionally have malware attached to them. To avoid this, only install apps from verified developers that you trust. Avoid installing apps that appear to be clones of other apps. Avoid installing any unnecessary apps. Uninstall any apps that don't do what they say they do.

Install an antivirus app. There are a number of good antivirus apps that you can download from the Google Play Store. Install a trusted antivirus app and run regular scans of the files and apps on your phone.
