New Delhi: If the Afro-Asia Cup cricket tournament doesn't excite sports enthusiasts enough, this surely will. Brazil are up against Turkey in a football friendly on Tuesday night in Germany.
At the back of an insipid performance against England last week, the Samba Boys will be ready to rock and roll for a Turkish delight.
Just four days after playing out a thrilling 1-1 draw against England at the Wembley, the Samba roadshow is all set to rock Dortmund. The five-time world champions take on the team they beat in the 2002 World Cup semis.
This will be the first meeting between the sides since the Confederations Cup in 2003. For Brazil, this is the tune-up they need leading up to the Copa America.
"Turkey are a very good team and a tough opponent. It is going to be a great match," Brazil coach Dunga says ahead of the match.
For Turkey, this will be an opportunity to play in front of fans although in a different country. Fan brawls during the Euro 2008 qualifiers meant that they played their matches behind closed doors. Coach Fatih Terim has called up a host of new names, which suggests he obviously believes in baptism by fire.
"We are playing the most important team in the world. They are five-time world champions, they are very important. Today, it is a prestigious affair to be playing Brazil. The Turkish national squad is very happy and proud. With their players such as like Kaka, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Gilberto, they are a star-studded squad. Tomorrow night will be a celebration," Turkey coach Fatih Terim says.
Turkey currently top their qualifying group in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, and a creditable performance against the Samba magicians would hold them in good stead for the coming games.
