Madrid: Real Sociedad twice came from behind to draw 2-2 against Almeria in the Spanish league on Friday. The host took the lead in just the fifth minute after Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli badly mistimed a tackle and brought down Congo forward Thievy Bifouma in the area, with Jose "Verza" Garcia converting the penalty.
Imanol Agirretxe equalized for Real Sociedad with a well-placed back-header from Esteban Granero's free kick in the 27th.
Bifouma then set up Almeria's second when he raced up the left flank and sent a perfect pass toward Tomer Hemed, who scored his seventh goal this season in the 40th.
"I don't much like playing on the wing, but it worked out today and I hope things continue going well," said Bifouma. "It's not a bad point to come away with because although we wanted to win, they're a tough team and nothing is easy in this league."
Sergio Canales drew the match level eight minutes later by racing up the field to collect Xabi Prieto's well-timed pass and wrong-footing goalkeeper Julian Cuesta to score his third goal this season.
"Our intention was to come away with all three points but our first half was not good," said Canales. "This year hasn't worked out how we had hoped, but next match we'll be at home in front of our fans to receive Sevilla."
Real Sociedad are provisionally 11th on 24 points while Almeria is 15th on 23. Real Madrid leads the standings on 54 with Barcelona one point behind ahead of weekend matches.
