Jamshedpur: Salgaocar and defending champions Pune FC won their respective matches of Group A, beating United Sikkim and Sporting Clube De Goa, respectively, with an identical margin of 3-0 in the Under-20 I-League here on Saturday. In the first match played at Gopal Maidan, Salgaocar dominated the proceedings right from the kick off and surged ahead through a goal from Rayman Fernandes at 24th minute.
While United Sikkim tried hard to score, Salgaocar struck again 11 minutes later through Godrey Silva. Thereafter T Silva pumped in another goal in 49th minute to seal the fate of the opponents. In the second match at the same venue, Sporting Clube De Goa were no match for Pune FC.
Playing with good combination and accurate short passes, Pune FC striker Nikhil Kadam helped the team take lead in the seventh minute. Subhasish Bose netted the second goal in the 27th minute. After the breather, G Karthik struck the third goal in 80th minute to wrap the match in Pune's favour.
