Turkish Super League Champion Galatasaray has signed Germany forward Lukas Podolski from Arsenal on a three-year contract.
Podolski, who won the World Cup with Germany last year, says on Saturday "I am happy to have reached an agreement with Galatasaray. I have joined a team that is a winner."
Galatasaray will pay 2.5 million euros ($2.8 million) for the 30-year old and an additional 500,000 euros ($556,000) if it qualifies for the Champions League. Podolski will earn 3 million euros ($3.3 million) a year plus 20,000 euros ($22,000) per game.
There is also an option for a fourth year.
Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek says he is confident Podolski will prove an important addition to the team.
Podolski spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, but scored just one goal for the Italian team.
