Post-credit scenes seem to be Bollywood’s latest obsession and the one in Animal has added to the discourse on social media. Sandeep Reddy Vanga has announced a sequel to the Ranbir Kapoor starrer titled Animal Park at the end of Animal and has promised that the sequel will be even more violent and gory than his recent directorial outing. While that may have led to extreme reactions from netizens – some of who are awaiting Animal Park with bated breath and others who has already made up their mind to not put themselves through another uncomfortable film – one can’t argue the noise and buzz this announcement has generated.
And now in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Bobby Deol, who plays a menacing antagonist in Animal, spills the beans on Animal Park. Talking about how there’s still some time before we get to experience it, he tells us, “It will take a few years for it to be constructed. I don’t know which animals will be there in it are but I truly hope I am (chuckles).”
Social media is also abuzz with multiple conspiracy theories with fans debating on his character rising from the ashes. Reacting to them, an amused Bobby says, “I’m hearing a lot of these conspiracy theories about my revival from a lot of my fans and friends. People have already made up things like my character has a twin because you can have twins only if you’ve a twin sibling. I’ve also been hearing theories that if Ranbir Kapoor’s heart can be replaced, I can also survive my throat being slit.”
Bobby also joins the discussion on the internet, who are rooting for a spin-off on Abrar. His 13-minute screen time has left fans wanting for more considering the euphoria he has created with his action sequence with Ranbir and blood-thirsty avatar. Looking forward to a spin-off, he says, “I would love to work with Sandeep again and again. I love that man. He’s an amazing guy and an awesome director. He’s so humble. He has so much conviction when he makes films. That’s why the reaction around us is so real. But I do really hope that he directs me again.”
Bobby further shares that he has developed a special rapport with Sandeep and that working with the Kabir Singh director was always a part of his bucket-list. “With Sandeep, there was some kind of connection. Everything that I was trying to portray came out naturally. His energy got into me. I was dying to work with him. He made me perform so differently,” the Aashram and Love Hostel actor adds.
According to Bobby, he has never been so confident about any other film before Animal and ever since he heard the script, he knew that it was history in making. “From the time Sandeep met me to the day I started shooting, my gut had always said that this would be something special. I’ve never felt so positive about a film. I was definitely nervous but I believed in what I was doing and I knew that something great was going to happen. It happened and that’s amazing,” beams the 54-year-old.
