Amy Poehler returns to voice the character of Joy in Inside Out 2. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Amy opened up about the new emotions in the film.

International actress Amy Poehler opened up about the addition of ‘Anxiety’ emotion in Inside Out 2. Speaking exclusively with News18 Showsha, the actress who voices the character Joy in the film said that it was a smart move by Pixar and Disney to introduce the emotion. She added that people of all ages deal with anxiety. Noting that the last decade has been ‘complicated’, Amy said she loves that the film has introduced the new emotion.

“I thought it was so smart (to introduce Anxiety) because Pixar takes the emotions and feelings of a young person very seriously. You don’t have to be young to have anxiety. Everybody has anxiety. But I love that they were taking this big swing because it has been a complicated 10 years since the last Inside Out movie," Amy told News18 Showsha.

“I think what people loved about the first film is that it did not shy away from big ideas and deep ideas. And they do it again. ‘(They said) We are going to let anxiety burst through.’ There’s a giant wrecking ball that comes through and destroys headquarters. A bunch of emotions come through. I love that about Pixar that they take what’s working, break it down and build it up again. There are so many funny things about how anxiety tricks us into thinking it is there for our own good and Pixar has a lot of good jokes about it," she added.

Watch the interview below:

Anxiety has been voiced by Stranger Things star Maya Hawke. Besides Anxiety, the film also introduces Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos), and Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser). Inside Out 2 also brings back some old characters. We will get to see characters such as Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Tony Hale) and Disgust (Liza Lapira) return to the screen.

Inside Out 2 releases in India on June 14.
