CBSE is affiliated with the School Games Federation of India, effective July 8. Accordingly, from 2024-25 academic year onwards, the winners of the CBSE National Games will participate in SGFI National School Games organised by SGFI every year, the central board said in an official notification.
Furthermore, CBSE has notified that an organisation named ‘CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society’ (CBSE-WSO), located in Agra, is using the name of CBSE while organising sports events while also participating in sports competitions being organized by SGFI and other sports bodies.
“It has been observed that the CBSE schools are unknowingly participating in the sports events being organized by this organization. CSBE has no connection in any manner with the organization,” the central board said.
CBSE also directed all the affiliated schools not to associate with the organisation nor participate in the sports competitions conducted by them as it is not part of CBSE or has any connection with the board. “In case the schools receive any communication from any such organization, the same may be cross verified from the CBSE website. All the schools are instructed through this circular not to participate in any sports event organized by the said organization ‘CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society’ (CBSE-WSO), otherwise action shall be taken against the school,” the notice read.
