Team India To Celebrate T20 World Cup 2024 Title Win With Open Bus Parade In Mumbai - Reports
According to a report on Wednesday, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian men's cricket team is set to celebrate the T20 World Cup 2024 title win with an open bus parade in Mumbai.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian men’s cricket team will celebrate the T20 World Cup 2024 title win with an open bus parade in Mumbai. According to a report in Dainik Jagran on Wednesday (July 3), Indian players will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on July 4 after arriving from Barbados and will then have an open bus parade in Mumbai.

In 2007 as well, after winning the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, Indian players celebrated the historic feat with an open bus parade in Mumbai.

India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final played in Barbados on Saturday (June 29) to end the 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. In the nail-biting thriller, India rode on Virat Kohli’s 76-run knock to post a total of 176 runs on the board and then successfully managed to defend the total by restricting the Proteas to 169 for 8 in 20 overs.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya picked up three wickets for India in his quota of three overs, and two batters each were sent back to the pavilion by Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. For his super show with the bat in the summit clash, Kohli won the Player of the Match award, and Bumrah bagged the Player of the Series award.

India’s return delayed

After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title on Saturday (June 29), Indian players were supposed to return on Sunday, but their arrival was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl. The BCCI has ensured the return of Indian players and support staff by arranging a charter flight. According to the latest reports, Indian players will land in Delhi on Thursday (July 4) morning and will then meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rohit, Virat and Jadeja retires

After playing a big role in helping India end the 17-year wait for a second T20 World Cup title, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20Is. While Kohli finished his career as the leading run scorer in T20 World Cup history, Rohit ended his T20I career with the most runs and sixes in the shortest format of the game.

India’s win in the final also helped Rohit become the first captain to win 50 T20Is.
