'Chappal Mai Ghum Raha Hai, Garden Mai Aaya Hai Kya?': Rohit Sharma Teases Tilak Varma, Gets a Witty Response
A hilarious exchange between Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma with the former teasing his teammate for wearing chappals.

Mumbai Indians are gearing up for their final away match of IPL 2024 and it will see them lock horns with red-hot Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Saturday night.  With MI already out of the playoffs reckoning, the former champions are aiming to bow out on a high.

Ahead of what promises to be a tasty affair, MI superstar Rohit Sharma teased his teammate Tilak Varma for wearing chappal (sandals) who seemed busy on his phone.

“Ay hero! Kya kar raha hai bhai? Chappal mai ghum raha hai! Garden mai aaya hai kya (Why are you roaming around in sandals? Are in walking in a garden)?” Rohit said.

Tilak replied, “Hai na bhaiya Eden Gardens. (Yeah, this is Eden Gardens)”

“Kya? Eden Gardens?” a slightly perplexed Rohit responded before bursting into laughter.

The word ‘garden’ will remain intrinsically associated with Rohit thanks to his viral dig at his India teammates earlier this year.

During the Vizag Test against England, to keep his teammates focused on the job, Rohit sternly reminded them to not treat fielding as if roaming around in a garden which was caught by the stump microphone and it quickly went viral on social media.

The spirits in the MI camp are high despite their forgettable season which saw them not qualifying for the playoffs. The five-time champions struggled with consistency throughout the season despite boasting of some of the finest T20 cricketers in their ranks.

After losing four games in a row, MI ended the slide with a confidence-boosting seven-wicket thrashing of Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium. Suryakumar Yadav was the star of the show, hitting a fine unbeaten century to help the home team recover from a poor start that saw them lose three wickets inside the Powerplay.

Thanks to SKY’s 51-ball 102, MI chased down 174 in 17.2 overs for their fourth win in 12 attempts. The Hardik Pandya-led side will end their campaign next Friday when they host Lucknow Super Giants.
