This Tamil Art Teacher’s Unique Bonsai Tree Garden Has Locals’ Attention

=There are many people who are actively involved in gardening nowadays. They have taken this as their hobby and have made small gardens on their terraces or balconies. Many of them have revealed that taking care of plants and nurturing them have been therapeutic for them. There are some who have been doing it for years and have grown hundreds of plants. A similar incident has once again come to the news from Srirampuram village near Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. According to reports, an art teacher of a secondary school named Leo has been actively promoting the bonsai culture in the area and has been growing a variety of bonsai in his home. Bonsai is the East Asian art of growing and training miniature trees in containers, developed from the traditional Chinese art form of penjing.

According to reports, Leo has had a keen interest in growing trees since an early age. He first cultivated an Ichi tree, which is a Japanese art of bonsai culture. After that, for the next 25 years, he has been growing various sizes of these trees including small bonsais, large bonsais and extremely large bonsais. Apart from that, his garden also has a 22-year-old 1.5-foot tall Ichi tree, a 20-year-old 1-foot tall banyan tree, a 20-year-old 1 foot royal tree, and a 20-year-old 1.5-foot tall paper flower plant. He has also been growing some indigenous trees including the maruti tree, jacaranda tree, tamarind tree and neem tree.

Leo also has a great collection of exotic trees like a juniper tree, a ficus plant, a 15-year-old Ficus microcarpa tree, and a 6-year-old Christmas tree. His collection has come out as a surprise for everyone, and people are often seen coming to his place to check them out.

During an interview with Local 18, the school teacher revealed that, “I am growing more than a hundred bonsai trees, flowering plants, and flower plants, which can grow both indoors and outdoors. After school hours, I look after their maintenance in my garden. I have been growing trees as my first full hobby.”
