Karupatti sweet is made up of rice and jaggery. It can be easily prepared at home too. Let’s take a look at the mouth-watering recipe of the sweet.

Ingredients:

The ingredients you need to make the karupatti sweet include 1 cup of rice, ¼ whole urad dal, oil, karupatti or palm jaggery, cardamom powder, dry ginger powder and water.

Process:

After thoroughly rinsing the rice and dal for three hours, soak them in a bowl. After that, drain the water, and put it in a blender. Make sure not to add too much water, so that the paste remains thick and smooth. To make the palm jaggery syrup, take a pan – add palm jaggery and water to it. Heat the pan, and mix it well till the palm jaggery is melted properly. Strain the mix, then add back to the pan, and bring it to boil for 6 to 8 minutes, until it gets syrupy and thick. Add the ginger and dry cardamom powder mix. The syrup is to be kept warm.

Finally, heat the oil, take the karupatti sweet mix in a piping bag and deep fry it by making round designs on the oil. Remember to fry it from each side, so that it gets crispy. After draining the oil, dip it in the warm syrup and serve.
