Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan has declined to apologise for his offensive remarks on actress Trisha Krishnan. Mansoor declared in a news conference that he will not apologise because there was nothing wrong with what he said, despite strong criticism over his remarks. He said that people misinterpreted what he said. His denial of the offensive nature of his statement and refusal to apologise has led to further criticism from all corners, including from actress-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar. She is also a member of National Commission for Women
Khushbu has expressed disgust in the fact that Mansoor Ali Khan is justifying his statement by pointing his fingers at others, hinting at Mansoor’s lashing out at the Nadigar Sangam for banning him. She said that before pointing fingers at others, he should look at his own mistakes. She called him a “misogynist” and “egoistic man”. She also said that apologising would not strip him off his manhood.
These men.. to cover up their mistakes they give examples of others wrong doings & try to justify their actions. #MansoorAliKhan rather than pointing fingers at others, look at yourself. Your arrogance and defiant attitude shows how misogynist & egoistic person you are. If you…— KhushbuSundar (@khushsundar) November 21, 2023
The National Commission For Women have now appealed that a case should be registered against the actor. Khushbu had lashed out at him saying that some men believe it to be their birthright to demean and objectify women. The BJP politician went on to say that she had brought up Mansoor Ali Khan’s issue as a member of the National Commission for Women (NCW) and promised that he would be held accountable.
The entire fiasco started during a press conference, when Mansoor Ali Khan lamented that he did not have a rape scene with Trisha in Leo as he had with other actresses in previous films. The actor claimed to have performed numerous rape scenes with heroines throughout his career, but he was unable to do so with his Leo co-star, Trisha.. Not only did this surprise Tamil actors, but Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi also took a hard stance against the comments.
Mansoor Ali Khan was placed under interim prohibition by Nadigar Sangam, the South Indian Artistes’ Association; and the National Commission for Women took suo moto cognizance of the situation.
