Who can ever forget the magical trio of Rahul, Anjali and Tina from the classic romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Even after more than two decades of its release the film still remains fans’ favourite and is considered as one of the best Bollywood films made on friendship. Released in October 1998 the film was helmed by the ace filmmaker Karan Johar and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles. It was among the biggest hits of that year. Not just on screen, but SRK, Kajol and Rani are known to have a close bond in real-life also.
Today, on the occasion of Rani’s 46th birthday, her friend, cousin and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai co-actor Kajol took to her Instagram and extended a heartfelt wish. She dropped a throwback picture from Durga puja festivities in which both actors could be seen sharing a warm hug, standing in front of Goddess Durga idol and twinning in beige traditional sarees.
The Dilwale actor captioned the post, “HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY #RANIMUKERJI…MAY THIS YEAR BE FILLED WITH MOMENTS THAT MAKE YOU SMILE AND LAUGH.”
The stars earlier appeared together in an episode of Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee With Karan Season 8 which was among the most loved episodes. In the episode, Rani revealed that director Karan Johar wanted her to lose weight for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and snatched food from her.
“I had told Rani that we have to wear a short skirt in Mauritius so just lose some weight. She said I’ll lose 4-5. The kilos happened but they were not lost. They were put on. I was like how was she going to wear that orange skirt? So, we instructed the room service to not give her any food,” KJo said. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai also featured Salman Khan in a special guest appearance role.
On the work front, Kajol will be next seen in the thriller film Do Patti which also stars Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Sheikh in the lead roles. The film will stream on the OTT platform Netflix. Rani, on the other hand, has still not announced her next venture.
