The secret service agent also fired his gun during the confrontation with the miscreants who robbed him. No arrests have been made by the relevant police dept.

A US secret service agent was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend when President Joe Biden was visiting Los Angeles for a fundraising event. The secret service agent used his gun and fired shots as well when the robbery took place in a residential community in Tustin, about an hour’s drive southeast of Los Angeles but the government agency said they do not know if anyone was shot.

The agent was accosted while returning from work Saturday night and police said he had his bag stolen at gunpoint. Police officials of the Tustin Police Department received the complaint of the robbery shortly after 9:30 p.m. (local time).

The agent was not injured during the confrontation. Officers did find some of the agent’s stolen belongings in the area. Police reported a silver Infiniti FX35 was seen leaving the scene. Tustin Police said Monday they had not found a suspect.

Biden and former President Barack Obama held a star-studded fundraising event in Los Angeles on Sunday that brought in more than $30 million for Biden’s reelection campaign.

“A member of the US Secret Service was the victim of an armed robbery in Tustin, California late Saturday when returning from a work assignment. The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck,” he added. “We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi was quoted as saying by the New York Post.

Biden travelled directly from the G7 summit in Italy to the campaign fundraiser at the Peacock Theater early Saturday morning at Los Angeles. He stayed at an undisclosed location in the Los Angeles area overnight.

He had arrived at the location around 8:53 p.m. (local time), which would about 40 minutes before the robbery was reported.
