US Girl Calls Her Friends for Sleepover Party, Father Spikes Their Drinks with Sedatives
A man from the US state of Oregon drugged his young daughter’s friends with smoothies laced with sedative benzodiazepine.

A man from the US state of Oregon is accused of drugging his daughter’s young friends with smoothies laced with sedatives, a report by the The New York Post said. The girls were at his home in Lake Oswego, just south of Portland for a sleepover at the invitation of his young daughter.

One of the little girls also accused the man of creeping over them as they drifted off to sleep, according to cops. Another young girl texted her mother to come help her at 1;45am in the morning as she lost consciousness and begged her to rescue her from the home. “Mom please pick me up and say I had a family emergency. I don’t feel safe. I might not respond but please come get me. Please. Please pick up. Please. PLEASE!,” the girl wrote.

The 57-year-old father, Michael Meyden, turned himself in at the Clackamas County Jail on Wednesday. This came after a grand jury issued an indictment accusing him of multiple felonies and misdemeanours stemming from the night of the sleepover in August 2023.

According to local news outlet Oregon Live, Meyden laced mango smoothies with benzodiazepine and served it to his daughter’s friends. The girls did facials and watched movies and after that Meyden appeared with the laced smoothies and insisted that the girls drink them.

Benzodiazepine is a depressant that slows the nervous system.

The affidavit said that the drinks had “tiny white chunks throughout and sprinkled on top”. One girl even said she did not like the drink but Meyden continued to demand that the girls finish the smoothie.

He then made repeated trips down to the basement where the girls were sleeping. He also held his finger under a girl’s nose to see if she was asleep and moved one girl’s arm and moved her body on the bed. One of the girls “remained awake in fear that Mr. Meyden was going to do something” to them.

One girl said she felt “woozy, hot and clumsy” after drinking the smoothie and then fell into a “‘thick, deep sleep’ that she had never experienced before”.

The man also returned and stood near where the girls were sleeping for some time and appeared to check to see if the girls were asleep. After one girl was rescued, her parents called the families of the other girls to take them home.

Meyden also resisted letting the girls go home when the parents arrived.

When the girls were taken to the Randall Children’s Hospital emergency room, they tested positive for having ingested an unknown prescription drug.

Michael Meyden, recently divorced, owned the home in Lake Oswego during the time of the sleepover. His attorney asserts his innocence and Meyden pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Wednesday in Clackamas County Circuit Court and his bail was set at $50,000.
