London: One woman was killed and up to six other people were injured in a stabbing attack in central London, and a male suspect was arrested, the city's Metropolitan Police said on Thursday.
"Terrorism is one possibility being explored at this stage," police said in a statement.
London police say they received reports of a man with a knife attacking pedestrians at Russell Square about 10.30pm London time.
Up to six people were found injured when emergency services arrived. One died a short time later.
A man was arrested five minutes later after being disabled by police.
"We came around the corner and there were armed police everywhere," he said.
A team of forensic unit rushed to the spot and collected evidences on Southampton Row.
A police picket has been set up in the area.
