In a heartwarming incident in Winston, US, a cheetah cub born at an Oregon zoo was successfully relocated to an Ohio facility. Sharing the news on sInstagram, Wildlife Safari, a zoo located in Winston, Oregon, highlighted the journey of the male cub. “We are thrilled to announce the successful transfer of a cheetah cub, born on June 7, to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden for fostering. The male cub was born to mom Zuri, the #1 genetically valued female cheetah in North America,” Wildlife Safari wrote.
The zoo also shared that Zuri’s litter originally consisted of two cubs, but unfortunately, only one survived. Following this loss, the female cheetah stopped producing milk to support the cub. Hence, measures were taken to keep the little one healthy and happy while he got ready to meet his new family.
The decision was made to relocate the cub to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. The young cheetah found a new home at the Cincinnati Zoo, where a female cheetah gave birth to two cubs on June 8.
The post added that before travel, veterinarian Dr. Benji Alcantar did a final check on the cub and said, “He looks really good and is fit to travel. We are happy he will be able to join the cheetah breeding population in Cincinnati.”
