In today’s time, many of us love trying our favourite snacks at cafes and restaurants. However, it can become a horrible experience if these cafes don’t observe hygiene issues. In a post shared on Reddit, a user hailing from the UK shared that he found a centipede in a pastry purchased from the Caffe Nero.
He also attached a photo of it and humorously wrote in the caption, “Bit of extra protein in the kids Caffe Nero pastry this morning.” This man also asked for recommendations for good worming tablets. He had purchased the delicacy for his children and confirmed that the centipede was alive.

Users were left disgusted with this photograph and one of them revealed something about the big chain coffee shops. As per this user, the workers employed in these shops are underpaid and don’t care about the products being infested with flies.

Another user shared a similar experience at the above-mentioned cafe. The person wrote the coffee tasted like dishwater and the cake had a couple of hairs in with the icing.

The UK man confirmed that he did not take the pastry back to the coffee shop but did suggest he would reach out to the chain. The man added that he might reach out to the cafe on social media and see if they’ll pay for the family’s worming tablets. In another comment, he added that it was pretty safe to say his family won’t be eating at Caffe Nero for some time. After being contacted for comment, Caffe Nero confirmed it was looking into this matter with urgency.
A spokesperson for the chain said, “It’s something we are now looking into with urgency. As there doesn’t appear to be a location highlighted, it will require a lot of investigating.”
As per Caffe Nero, they set high hygiene and food preparation standards, and even an isolated incident like this is unacceptable. The cafe added that it will investigate fully to understand what might have occurred. Caffe Nero was established in London in 1997 after the founder Gerry Ford purchased five coffee shops.
