As the temperature continues to dip, several parts of North India have been engulfed in fog and smog. This has led to low visibility which caused back-to-back delays with several trains. On Thursday morning, the Indian Railways released a list of more than 20 trains that were arriving late in Delhi due to fog. Many passengers took to social media to complain about how Railways’s lack of prior communication about the delays and lack of remedial steps has inconvenienced hundreds of people who have to wait for hours out in the cold at railway stations. Those who have to travel for urgent matters have to arrange expensive alternative transport.

He posted, “To AshwiniVaishnaw Train no. 01454, Mangalore to Mumbai was supposed to reach Kundapura station at 9.02pm, but even at around 12 am there’s no clarity about the arrival of the train. People at the station have no clue about the time of arrival. There are small children, old people and female passengers at the station waiting for the train. Why are these passengers taken for granted? No accountability?.”
