A video of a cricket fan painting Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson’s portrait on his terrace has captivated the internet. Kerala’s admiration for the India wicketkeeper-batter is nothing unheard of, yet there are always moments that just take the fandom for the star batter to a whole new level. Similarly, a Kerala fan named Sujith showcased his artistic skills by creating a massive portrait of the cricketer on his house’s rooftop. While several huge portraits of Samson have been made in the past, this is the first time that a fan has immortalised their idol on the ceiling. The fan has shared the video on Instagram in collaboration with the Rajasthan Royals.

The video begins with a few slow-motion drone shots of the Sanju Samson portrait. The painting is so big that it is easily visible from the sky. In the clip, the fan can be seen carrying barrels of Rajasthan’s traditional pink paint for the cricketer’s jersey. Having completed painting Samson’s torso, the artist puts some finishing touches on the batter’s eyes. Even rain couldn’t stop the fan from finishing off his work of art, drawing praise from several netizens on the platform. The video also garnered the attention of the Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson himself who was humbled by the impressive work.
Several users have now reacted to the video, expressing their admiration in the replies section. One of them suggested that this season, Samson has been everywhere. He wrote, “Sanju is everywhere”. Another seemed to be sure that this clip would garner a ton of attention as he said, “This is going to go viral”. A netizen wanted to present the painter with flowers for his fine work. “Let there be a flower for you who did this”, he wrote. One fan suggested that everyone now awaits to see the cricketer don the Indian blue. “Indian jersey next”, he replied.
Sanju Samson has been phenomenal for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2024 IPL season. The team’s skipper has shown up with the willow in multiple games, amassing 486 runs in 12 matches. He has also amassed five half-centuries this season with a high score of 86. As for his team, Rajasthan are currently in second place on the league table with eight wins from 12 matches. They are next set to take on the Punjab Kings tonight, May 15, at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Assam. They will be eager to seal a top-two finish to make the Qualifier 1 alongside the Kolkata Knight Riders.
