The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are stuck in a tough spot in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Led by Faf du Plessis, they slid to the very bottom, occupying the tenth spot on the points table. This drop came after Delhi Capitals (DC) moved up to ninth following their victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) last night. Rishabh Pant and his men notched their second win at the Ekana stadium, taking themselves from last to second-last position, leaving RCB behind.
With a not-so-great Net Run Rate (NRR) of -1.124, RCB fans are turning to memes to cope with the ongoing disappointment. Despite not even playing in the match that led to their fall, they find themselves at the bottom of the pile.

Meanwhile, in RCB’s latest outing, they faced defeat against Mumbai Indians. Chasing 197, MI reached 199/3 in 15.3 overs, with their captain Hardik Pandya sealing the deal with a match-winning six. Ishan Kishan (69) and Suryakumar Yadav (52) contributed half-centuries for MI. Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding as ever, claiming five wickets for MI.
This marked RCB’s fifth loss in six matches in the IPL 2024 and du Plessis didn’t shy away from acknowledging his team’s recent struggles, noting a lack of bowling firepower. “I feel like from a batting perspective, we have to push for that 200. We don’t have as many weapons in our bowling. So it comes down to the batting,” remarked du Plessis, highlighting the importance of scoring big to compensate for bowling weaknesses. Unfortunately, all of RCB’s bowlers conceded over 10 runs per over against MI, adding to the challenges ahead for both the team and its fans.
