Suraj Kumar, alias Kariva, was arrested by Dharhara police late Friday night in a previous case. On Saturday afternoon, while being transported to Munger court in an auto-rickshaw with another prisoner, and under the supervision of four constables and a police officer, Suraj attempted to escape.
When the auto-rickshaw carrying Suraj Kumar stopped at a petrol pump to refuel, he managed to evade the constable, free his hands from the handcuffs, and jump out of the vehicle. Suraj then fled into a nearby field. However, he was not able to run fast since the field was flooded.
The police constables acted quickly. They chased the fleeing prisoner into the field and successfully apprehended him. The SHO of Dharhara police station said that despite the prisoner’s attempt to escape, the prompt action of the constables led to his capture.
