Prank videos have become quite a common occurrence on the internet. Popular social media influencers and famous YouTubers are the ones who primarily conduct such pranks on the general masses. Most of the time these internet personalities record the prank on their devices and share them on the web for sheer entertainment purposes. However, sometimes these acts of mischief just go over the top, causing trouble or annoyance to the masses. Walking along a similar vein, a YouTuber from Brussels was recently arrested after he poured dog muck over a victim — a prank that he often conducted on passengers traveling via the subway.
According to a report by Brussels Times, YouTuber YaNike, who goes by his initials YD, was known for frequently pouring a mixture of water, dog feces, oil, and withered leaves on oblivious subway passengers in Brussels. Many of the videos that he shared on his YouTube channel bore proof of his notorious act. They show the YouTuber first creating a mix of all the ingredients including dog muck and then boarding a subway. He waits for the metro to stop at the next station. The moment the cabin’s door opens, he pours the dirty and pungent mix onto an unsuspected commuter and runs away from the scene so that he does not get caught.
Things turned away from his favour after a victim of his mucky prank lodged a complaint against the YouTuber. The Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company (STIB), where he executed all of his pranks, also held him accountable for his misconduct. The 20-something YouTuber was brought before the investigating judge. He was charged with property damage, property damage using violence, and intentional battery and assault claims.
STIB spokesperson Yasmina Vanoverschelde said in a statement that the YouTuber confessed to his criminal offenses. “YD (the YouTuber) was reported as a notified person by the investigating judge in charge of the investigation and was intercepted by police officers from the Uccle/Watermael-Boitsfort/Auderghem on 2 January," they said. Reportedly, the prankster conducted the acts to garner as many “likes" as possible on his YouTube channel.
On January 3, the investigating judge made the decision to place the YouTuber under custody, reports Brussels Times. He appeared before the Council Chamber on January 8, confirming the arrest mandate in the meantime.
