'My Daughter Is Going To Be So Mad:’ Woman Pledges To Name Her Daughter After Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav completed a marvelous catch to dismiss David Miller in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa.

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav’s catch in the T20 World Cup final has become the stuff of legend. Cricket lovers, around the world, are showering praises on the 33-year-old for his spectacular, match-winning catch that resulted in David Miller’s dismissal in the final over of the contest. A social media user expressed her appreciation for Surya by proclaiming that she would be naming her daughter after the Indian middle-order batter. “My daughter is going to be so mad when I’ll name her Suryakumar Yadav,” read the now-viral post, shared on X (formerly Twitter).

An X user referred to Suryakumar Yadav’s nickname SKY, which is based on his initials and wrote, “Let no one stop you from doing that. When it comes to names that stand out, SKY is the limit!”

Someone else suggested, “Just make it SuryaKumari Yadav, your daughter will be happy and you will be too.”

Another person added, “First few years will be okay. If she’s a proper cricket fan, one session of this final’s highlights, and she’ll be okay with it. School ragging can shut up.”

One user jokingly suggested, “She will grow up to be a great catch, I believe. SKY is limit for her.”

It is interesting to note after the match, some started speculating that Suryakumar Yadav’s foot might have touched the boundary ropes and hence the dismissal was invalid. The skeptics argued that South Africa should have been credited with six runs. In response to this, one social media user wrote, “I was there at the ground in the TV commentary box and can tell that the white line that’s in question here was not the boundary. The boundary rope wedge was behind that white line and this was the case from the start of the match.”

In a conversation with Indian Express, Suryakumar Yadav spoke about the now-viral catch and said, “The catch is all over social media. I’m grateful that I was there in those five seconds of the play. When I pushed the ball and when I took the catch, I knew that I hadn’t touched the rope. The only thing I was cautious about was that when I threw the ball back inside the ground, my feet doesn’t touch the rope. I knew it was a fair catch.”

Hardik Pandya picked up three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh bagged two wickets each to earn an emphatic win for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. Earlier during the summit clash, Virat Kohli had produced a sublime knock of 76 off 59 balls.
