Around the world, there are certain places and objects which are believed to have mythical origins, or origins that carry interesting stories behind them. In the same way, this one tree in Darbhanga, Bihar is believed to have originated from a teeth-cleaning twig.
As per reports, the tree is located near a Gurudwara, which is at a distance of 15 kilometres from the district headquarters. It is believed that this tree does not have any roots, and despite that, it has remained green and healthy for more than a hundred years.
Mahesh Kant Thakur, who is the manager of a monastery and also a priest, said that the very first priest of this place was Saheb Ram Baba, who had taken samadhi when he was alive. According to him, when Saheb Ram Baba threw away the twig he used to clean his teeth with, it grew into the huge green tree that is seen today. He revealed further that before taking his samadhi, Saheb Ram Baba had declared that as long as this tree is green and healthy, humanity will live. Since the tree is alive, worshippers believe that Baba is also alive.
According to Mahesh Kant Thakur, four mahants have passed this place so far, and the fifth mahant is Mouni Baba. This monastery is regarded as the oldest in the Darbhanga district, which is situated in the Keoti block, 15 km away from the district headquarters.
This place also has a Gurudwara, along with a temple. The Gurudwara was built by Darbhanga Maharaj. At the place, small twigs were discovered buried in the earth. When inquired about the nature of these twigs, the priest said that they come out for a certain period, and after that are buried back in the ground. He added that one can find dozens of twigs like that at the place.
