Don't Mess With A Wild Elephant And This Video Tells Us Why

In an unusual and horrifying event doing the rounds on social media, a wild elephant rammed down the court’s entrance and wandered into its premises in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, causing havoc inside the court’s premises on December 27. The incident took place at the district and sessions court in the Roshnabad area of Haridwar. The animal’s act was caught on camera, and as the wild beast broke into the court premises, people ran for cover from the animal.

According to reports, the mammoth animal may have snuck out of the nearby Rajaji Tiger Reserve and entered the city. The incident created mayhem as it ravaged the district magistrate’s office and vandalised the court premises. As per the onlookers, the wild animal broke through gates and even destroyed a wall during its unexpected visit.

Forest authorities were quick to respond to the unusual situation. Upon receiving the information about the elephant’s intrusion in the court, a team of the forest department personnel rushed to the scene. The officials employed tactics such as firing shots in the air to scare the animal away, directing it towards the Rajaji Tiger Reserve.

As per the Uttarakhand Chief Conservator of Forests, Dr PM Dhakate, the forest officials managed to scare away the elephant and drive it back to the Rajaji Tiger Reserve. Sharing the update about the animal being back in the Tiger Reserve on the social media platform X, the chief conservator of forests wrote, “In areas adjacent to jungles, there have been many occurrences where an Elephant made its way into Haridwar, in this instance it was the District Collector’s office, the Elephant advanced towards the main gate of the District Court Judiciary and forcefully opened the closed gate. The Elephant’s navigation along traditional paths is attributed to its remarkable memory.”

“After much effort, the Uttarakhand Forest Department’s team actively engaged to redirect the elephant back to its natural habitat,” he concluded.

It is to be noted that there were no reports of the animal having caused any injury to humans. However, the attack caused destruction to the property in the area.
