Can Freezing Popcorn Really Make It Taste Better? This Man Thinks So
While most of us know popcorn as a snack that is best enjoyed warm, a new social media trend promises that freezing popcorn can elevate its taste.

Popcorn has to be one of the classic snacks out there. Whether preparing it for a movie night or topping it with caramel for a quick sweet, these crunchy flavour bombs are the go-to snack for many. While most of us know popcorn as a snack that is best enjoyed warm, a new social media trend promises that freezing popcorn can elevate its taste. In a viral video, a man accepts the viral frozen popcorn trend and recommends it. The video has caught the attention of social media clocking in nearly 3 million views.

At first, he’s skeptical. Why in the world would people freeze popcorn? Isn’t the whole point of this snack that it’s just popped? He microwaves the popcorn, pops it as usual and immediately throws it into the freezer. Several hours later, well past midnight, he engages in the frozen snack and surprisingly likes it. He claims it tastes better than when it is warm. The cold and firm surface alongside the buttery flavoured crispy outer surface gives a unique crunchy and refreshing taste. He also said freezing increases the saltiness of the popcorn and prevents the kernels from getting stuck in the teeth.

The video has invited hundreds of reactions on social media. Many users are defending regular warm popcorn, some are also curious to try the frozen version.

“I’ll stay with my hot popcorn,” said a user.

Another doubtful user asked, “Yeah but who wants to eat cold popcorn.”

“Ain’t no way, lol.”, said another comment.

On the other hand, some users agree that freezing may enhance the crunchiness. A user commented, “Very occasionally (and I do mean VERY occasionally) we have leftover popcorn and it’s never the same the next day. I’m thinking freezing it would make it better the 2nd day.”

Another person said, “Interesting. I’m going to try because I’m so curious now!”

Someone noted, “We tried this about two weeks ago with Lesser Evil packaged popcorn. You are right. It had more flavour and it was crunchier. It also didn’t get stuck in my teeth like hot popcorn.”

Would you try the new frozen popcorn trend?

What's your reaction?
