5 Shocking Cricket Stats That Will Leave You Baffled
A user on X, formerly Twitter, shared a post asking people to “shock” with interesting cricket stats.

Sometimes the game of cricket can be way more unpredictable than you can assume it to be. A few days ago, the USA cricket team, which will make its T20I World Cup debut this year on home soil, crushed a side like Bangladesh in a bilateral series. It was a three-match assignment where the Americans won the first two games to register a 2-1 win. There are many such instances like this which will leave fans scratching their heads. Recently, an X account named House of Cricket came up with an interesting post, asking its followers to share some unbelievable cricket stats.

The post on the microblogging site read, “Shock me with a Cricket Stat?” It caught the attention of many cricket enthusiasts who dropped numerous astonishing facts in the comment section. One of them shared, “Ricky Ponting hasn’t won a Test match in India.”

The stat, however, was not entirely correct as Ponting won Test matches in India as a player but “not as the captain” of the Australian cricket team. Ponting led the Aussies in 77 Tests and won 48 of them. Under his leadership, Australia played seven Tests in India. They lost five of them while the remaining two ended in a draw.

An Indian fan put forward an interesting fact about Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite not winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) title ever, RCB is the third-most consistent team to qualify for the playoffs after five-time champions – Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The Bengaluru-based side has qualified for the IPL playoffs 9 times while CSK and MI have done it 12 and 10 times respectively.

A user shed light on the bowling skills of Sachin Tendulkar, who has shattered many records with his batting prowess. The India great was also comfortable as a part-time spinner. Interestingly, Tendulkar had more five-wicket hauls than legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne. “Sachin Tendulkar has 2 and Shane Warne has 1,” shared the fan.

Australian women’s cricketer Ellyse Perry has featured in 314 international matches during her decorated career. It is certainly a historic feat as the Australian women’s team has played 634 international matches from 1934 to 2024. “Ellyse Perry has played almost half of those matches,” revealed a fan.

The Ireland cricket team, which has yet to win a major title on the global stage, is the only team to chase down a 300-plus target three times in the World Cup out of 7 times. They made it happen against the Netherlands in 2011, against England in 2011 and against the West Indies in 2015.

The original post has already collected hundreds of interesting facts about cricket. These will no doubt help in enriching your knowledge about the sport.
