Amitabh Bachchan reveals he is the biggest fan of veteran diva Waheeda Rehman on Kaun Banega Crorepati 15. It all unfolded when Big B had to ask a question about the legendary actress being conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. It didn’t take long for the KBC host to heap praises on Waheeda Rehman and her exceptional contribution to Hindi cinema. Big B quickly disclosed how she was honoured with the prestigious accolade on the special occasion of actor Dev Anand’s 100th birth anniversary. Amitabh Bachchan called Waheeda Rehman an incredible actress also adding she should have been given the accolade years ago.
The trail of compliments was followed by his confession of being her biggest fan. Big B highlighted his favourite thing about the veteran diva is that she remains quite humble even after being such a massive star in Bollywood. “She’s my favourite. I am a big fan of hers. I always count my blessings to have been able to work with her in the past. She’s kind-hearted, very simple and she never makes anyone feel she’s such a huge star,” said Amitabh Bachchan.
This admission came just a few episodes after Big B revealed Waheeda Rehman’s favourite product in her makeup box that she always keeps close to her. The megastar pointed out there were several actors who’d keep around four people nearby just holding a full-size mirror in front of them. But Waheeda Rehman was happy with her compact box. While disclosing details about her makeup habit, he said, ” Waheeda ji has her favourite compact that she uses to do all her makeup. She keeps that little compact with her all the time.”
The 85-year-old towering legend, known for her roles in Kaagaz Ke Phool, Guide, Pyaasa, and many more, was conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the National Film Awards ceremony. Even Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the veteran diva on X, writing, “Her journey in Indian cinema has left an indelible mark. A beacon of talent, dedication, and grace, she embodies the best of our cinematic heritage.” She won the accolade for her “outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema” for the year 2021.
