The next Apple TV won't play 4K video
There is a long way for 4K video streaming to catch up in the market due to factors like affordability of delivering the quality and availability of faster data connections.

New Delhi: A disappointing piece of information for Apple TV lovers who had high hopes that the tech giant's next TV will have the capability to support 4K video playing- the 4th generation Apple TV is unlikely to offer the high-definition video resolution that gives a more immersive viewing experience.

Even as the idea of having 4K support in the next Apple TV appears enticing, as it will be a first major overhaul to the service in three years, the very notion of offering such a capability to the mass market is still in its infancy.

BuzzFeed News notes that there also exists a larger issue of economics as delivering 4K streaming at scale is expensive and requires a lot of bandwidth and more powerful compression technologies to transmit it sans hiccups.

Also, as there exists only a handful of consumers who have opted for 4K streaming service, there is a long way for it to strike the right chord with the audience both in terms of affordability and availability as compared to the HD service. Netflix and Amazon added 4K video streaming to their video services last year, but their offerings remain limited.
